    Wally Booth Raced At Detroit Dragway

    Wally Booth was another of Detroit Dragway’s famous drag racers of the 60′ & 70’s there much written about “Wally Booth”, so we have posted a few of the best articles we found along with the links to the article, so you can read the whole thing. We are proud to say that Wally Booth raced at Detroit Dragway, and we are glad he did.

    Wally Booth was born in Ohio, United States on December 12, 1940. Drag Racing was always a passion of his and he started racing when he was just 16 years old. He raced his first Drag Race in 1966 and won it. From then on, he continued to race and win many Drag Races. Wally Booth was a very successful Drag Racer and he had many fans. He retired from Drag Racing in 2017 but his fans will always remember him as a great Drag Racer. Thank you for reading this story about Wally Booth, the Drag Racer.

The career of drag racer Wally Booth is a David vs. Goliath story that evokes the mystique of early Pro Stock racing, a place where heroes were born of talent, intelligence, hard work, and integrity.

    One part of the article states how Wally moved to the Detroit Area with his family in 1957. They lived close to Detroit Dragway, and they were able to hear the sounds coming from the dragway. (Note Detroit Dragway Didn’t open until 1959.) So he would have lived in the area a couple of years before discovering Detroit Dragway.

    Growing up close to Detroit Dragway myself I can relate to this. Also if you lived close to the dragway on the weekends you could always see the race cars on their trailers or haulers parked at the local motels in the area. It was the best of time for drag racing.

    International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Article: The Gainesville, Florida, Gatornationals in 1974 gave Wally his first national event win and actually saved the AMC drag racing program. After that Wally became a part of history.     In 2013 Wally Booth was inducted into The International Drag Racing Hall of Fame.

    Walley Booth was a successful drag racer in the 1970s, racing his AMC Gremlin and Hornet race cars. He was known for his aggressive driving style and his ability to win races. Booth was a popular figure in the drag racing community and was respected by his peers. He retired from racing in the early 1980s, but continued to be involved in the sport as a Drag Racing consultant.
