Dwane Ong “ The Pawnbroker”Raced At DD
Dwane Ong a Detroit area local raced at Detroit Dragway & other tracks around the states, and was very successful. Dwane raced both a Funny Car “Trader Ray” and the Dragster named “The Pawnbroker”.
In 1970 Dwayne was first rear engine dragster to win a national event.
At the height of drag racing in the 60’s & 70’s Detroit Dragway was one of the drag strips all the top drag racers wanted to race at. Detroit Dragway held it’s last race in 1997, but we are keeping it’s memory alive. Share your stories with us.
Drag Racing was so good back in the day when racers like “Dwane Ong” and others traveled all over the U.S. and raced. Not like today’s events Although I still love drag racing, and will to the end, it’s just not the same.
